Penang Trip 2009

Sorry for the late-coming post
-
We gathered at hostel around 5.30am. The journey begins at 6.00am and we reached Penang at 11.00am. Along the journey, some of our member and committees had went to play chess with "周公“.

Here is their pic!!

-------------
-----------
---------
-------
Our 1st station was to fill up our tummy, so we went to New World Park's food court to have our breakfast.
There got varieties of Penang's famous food, but the foods were just "ma ma dei" only.
The price is slightly expensive, but the quality.....=.="(You know I know la)...XD

After that, our next station was "Kek Lok Si" temple. There are a lot of statues and idols for people to worship. We got the chance to get to top of the temple to see the famous bronze "Kuan Yin" statue, but the statue was not finished yet. However, we manage to take some pictures at there. On top of that, the twelve zodiac statue can be found there.

These are photos taken during the "Kek Lok Si" temple visit.

Next stop, Bukit Bendera!!We boarded the inclined train to the top of Bukit Bendera.
The train was fully packed and the journey was very long. The air was breezing cold and fresh up there. The scenary was very beautiful, you can see the whole Penang up there. Our hero, Tan Yun Lee was force to take picture with python...XD

These are the pictures taken at Bukit Bendera!!

After tat, we went to check in at YMCA. We had our dinner at Gurney Drive's hawker centre, many local foods are found there, such as fried oyster, Penang's char kueh tiaw and asam laksa. Everyone try their best to eat all they can.(sorry, no picture taken at there!!)

The next morning, we had our breakfast at YMCA.
-------

-----------
-------------
-----------
---------
-------
After having our breakfast, we went to the beach.
2 of our members were dropped into the sea.
Then, Tan Ni Ni played dead by fainting.
Our vice chairman, Chiong Chung Liang,
a former Red Cresent expert was tricked and gave him first aid treatment.
The play ended when one of the coastguard arrived and tried to rescue Tan NI NI also.

Next on, we went to the sleeping Buddha temple. Some of us tried to find out their luck in the wheel of fortune.

-------

-----------
-------------
-----------
---------
-------

Later that afternoon, we went to Penang War Museum.
The admission was Rm12 but it was worth it.
From there, we learnt a lot about our country's history.

Thus was once a site for the cannon during the British era.
During the Japanese era, it was used for torturing POWs.
An escape tunnel found in one of the bunkers.

General Yamashita's hanging spot. The ropes are real and was never been replaced.

Barracks for the armies.
The Japanese used it for keeping and torturing hostages.

We departed at 4.00pm from Penang. The trip was considered successful this time and we hoped to see you again in our upcoming event.

H1N1

We had received news saying that 4 of our college students were infected by A(H1N1) Flu.

However, we did not receive any evidences to prove the above statement is true. Factuality of the news is still in questioned.

But for your own safety purposes, please wear a face mask to avoid yourselves to be infected when you are away from your home. Type N95 face masks or Surgical face masks will be effective.

For more details of the face mask, please click HERE.

Take care.

Malacca Trip 2009

Ola...
-
Liang asked me to write something in this post...
So, about our trip last Saturday...
-----
---
----
All I could say was:
-
"OK OK lah...
Ma Ma Dei (cantonese) lo...
No Chio Bu in Malacca de"
-------
------
It's our first trip for our 09/10 session
A 1 day trip to the historious city in our country
-----
Only Opened for TARCIANs from Sabah and Sarawak
-----
all and all we have 43 students joining our trip
but in the end 5 of them put us aeroplane.
-----
---
-
Our bus left hostel at around 7 something in the morning
Reached at 9 something....

--
----
--
These are our finalists...

Well, almost all of them...
Mr.Blogger here isn't in the list..
Haha!!!
----
-
------------------------------------------------------------------------
And our 1st station is Famosa Chicken Rice Ball Restaurant
-
"Kita makan banyak banyak dekat sana,
bayar banyak-bayak dekat sana"
---
-----
Food that we had in the restaurant:
-
famous chicken rice ball
steamed chicken
roasted chicken
roasted pork
taugeh(Bean Sprout)
and lain-lain lagi...
--
---
--
Because Malacca was sibeh small,
most of our visiting places are near to each other
and all we need is just walk walk walk
------------------------------------------------------------------
This is what we call bangunan merah or red building in Malacca,
Welly-known because it appears almost every year in our
sejarah text book during secondary school years.
-
-
-
Our second destination,
the A Famosa
a.k.a "The Famous" in Portuguese
is a left-over fortress in the centre of Melacca.
-
Once built by Alfonso de Albuquerque (Alfonso de Anggukuih)
hehe...
You can read the remaining story here.
-----
---
-
One more story that i would like to add..
only for Sabah Sarawak Student Society members only
-
---
-----
Once upon a time,
Our vice-chairman,
YB Dato' seri Chiong Chung Liang
got his christian name...
And it's HUBERT!!!
-
So the story goes like this....
---
-
There's a Dutch graveyard just beside the fortress
And we found one of the graves marked Hubert who died exactly
on the day as Liang was born (only the year was different).
So we concluded that that was Liang's pass life...
-
Creepy leh...
.
.
.
.
.
.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Next stop,
Pahlawan Mall...
One of the modern buildings found in the centre of Malacca
Not much to tell about that place
-
We had lunch there
Some went for shopping
One got lost in time (Mr. Iphone)
-
-
-
-
-
------
----
--
-
This is the Istana Kesultanan Melaka
Once was the residence for the sultan of Malacca
Now turned into a museum

The interior of the building
Displaying the royal throne and his ministers

and also the story of Tun Perak

------------------------------------------------------------------

Another brave story of Liang...

He was forced by the committee members to take a photo with the albino python.

Hero of the day!
---------
------
---------
Visiting the museum inside the replica of a Dutch ship

Soooo hot inside...
Got aircond, no aircond...

NO difference!!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Took a round with the 'Eye On Malaysia'
Previously it was located in lake garden in Titiwangsa.
Now shifted to Malacca..

Good experience though
Recommended to have a ride on it if u never had before...

Committee members and some of the 'finalists' taking picture together
-------
----
-
----
-------
By evening, we went to Jonker Street.
A Malacca version of 'Petaling Street'.
only it is longer and friendlier compared to Petaling Street.
--
No pictures were taken because all of us were busy buying stuff and its too crowded.
Sorry ya...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Final picture taken before leaving Malacca.

Overall,
it was a successful trip.
Hope most of the members enjoyed the trip.
Any feedbacks or thoughts please do leave a note in our chatbox.
